Psych Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Clinical III

Catalog description
One of four clinical courses, this clinical practicum allows the student to develop knowledge and skills for psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner practice across the lifespan. Though full scope of PMHNP across the lifespan may be practiced under the guidance of a licensed preceptor, emphasis for this practicum is on care of children, adolescents, and families and incorporates both psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatments. The student is guided and mentored by preceptors and faculty in activities expected of an advanced nurse practitioner. Clinical experiences in combination with didactic coursework facilitates the development of PMHNP competencies in ethical, safe, collaborative, and evidence-based practice of mental health care delivered in a complex health care system. Prerequisite(s): NSG 602 , NSG 603 , NSG 604 , NSG 606 , and NSG 607 .
