Comprehensive Psychiatric-Mental Health Care for Children, Adolescents, and Families for PMHNPs

Catalog description
This course provides a comprehensive overview of psychiatric-mental health care for children, adolescents, and their families, with a strong emphasis on developmentally appropriate, evidence-based practice. Students will synthesize advanced knowledge and clinical decision-making skills necessary for the comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of psychiatric disorders in pediatric populations within the context of family systems. Didactic content is delivered in tandem with a clinical practicum. Through integration of didactic coursework and direct patient clinical care, students will develop core PMHNP competencies in safe, ethical, collaborative mental health care in accordance with evidence-based standards delivered in a complex health care system. Prerequisite: NSG 602 , NSG 603 , NSG 604 , NSG 606 , and NSG 607 .
