Catalog description

A course in linear algebra with a focus on applications and implementation of those applications using current computational software. Topics such as singular value decomposition, matrix factorizations, stochastic matrices and eigenvalue approximation will be presented and applied to problems in spline fitting, principal component analysis, random walks, image processing, least squares and recommender systems. Prerequisite: A grade of C- or better in MTH 222 or in MTH 246 .
