Catalog description

Designed to ease the transition to 400-level courses in mathematics and statistics. The emphasis of the course is on writing and analyzing mathematical texts, in particular mathematical proofs. Topics covered will be foundational for higher level courses and will include propositional and predicate logic, methods of proof, induction, sets, relations and functions. Prerequisite: a grade of C- or above in MTH 249 or MTH 251 ; or a score of 4 or 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam. Prerequisite or Co-requisite: MTH 222 or MTH 246 .
