MSC122 builds on foundational concepts introduced in MSC121 by focusing on the personal challenges and competencies essential for effective leadership and service. Students explore the importance of continuous personal development, including critical thinking, resilience, holistic health and fitness, and effective communication processes. The course emphasizes leadership as a lifelong practice grounded in ethical commitment to democratic principles and the values embodied in America’s founding documents. Students also receive introductory training in foundational military tactics, including Team and Squad Basic Components, Movement Techniques, Basic Patrolling, and Battle Drills. These tactical skills serve as the essential building blocks for future military leadership roles. Weekly leadership laboratories provide hands-on, performance-oriented learning environments, facilitated by MS III cadets and supervised by MS IV cadets and cadre, where students apply classroom knowledge in practical settings. No military obligation is required to enroll. Prerequisites: MSC 121 , MSC 121L . Co-requisite: MSC 122L .
