Catalog description
This course offers a comprehensive exploration into several methods for designing and optimizing complex systems and complex decision processes. Students will learn the intricacies of creating mathematical programming models tailored to real-world scenarios, considering business metrics, resource constraints, and diverse decision-making contexts. Focus will also be put on modeling systems using networks, along with corresponding analysis tools rooted in graph theoretic methods. Throughout the course, students will gain insights into prescriptive analytics, network science, and complexity analysis, equipping them with skills applicable across various domains. Among others, practical examples from production management, supply chain dynamics, human resource allocation, financial modeling, and social network analysis will be used to demonstrate theoretical concepts and a wide range of applications.
