Catalog description

An overview of the roles various financial institutions play in the economy, the services they perform, and the risks they take on in performing those services. This course covers a broad variety of the depository and non-depository institutions, including commercial banks, insurance companies, securities firms, investment banks, and mutual funds. This course is also intended to develop students’ understanding of the interest rates, monetary policy, and financial market environments in which the modern financial institutions are operating. Prerequisite: ECO 202 .
