Introductory skill-based course to be taken within one semester after declaring literature or creative writing major. Covers critical and interpretive terms and basic concepts of literary genre; develops skills of close reading, interpretation, and critical analysis; provides instructions in techniques of research and citation; and introduces various critical methods and approaches. ADVW. PA-1C. CAS-B-LIT. Prerequisite: ENG 109 or ENG 111 .
