Counseling Internship

Catalog description

This course provides students with a supervised field experience in counseling in a setting compatible with the student’s professional career goals. This is a 600-hour supervised, field-based experience with 240 direct service hours; these hours are completed in two academic semesters. Students will complete a total of 300 hours each semester, with 120 of those hours being direct service hours. School counseling students are supervised by a licensed school counselor within a school environment. Clinical mental health counseling students will be placed in various settings (i.e., hospitals, schools, community, and private practice) supervised by licensed professional clinical counselors with supervision credentials. As part of this class, students participate in weekly group supervision to support their professional growth and development. Prerequisites: EDP 653 and EDP 654 .
