EDP 622 is the first of two courses designed to assist students in the preparation of a portfolio of narrative reflections about their current and future knowledge as well as their role as a Health Professions Educator. Important adult education, learning, and development theories will be discussed, reviewed, and analyzed in relation to ongoing portfolio work. Students will begin developing an educator's portfolio that includes reflective narratives and selected works that provide evidence of competence in the following areas: (a) designing and developing teaching/training programs; (b) designing, developing, and analyzing appropriate methods to assess learners and evaluate programs; (c) applying theoretical frameworks to teaching practices; and (d) disseminating work to a broader community. Prerequisite: 12 hours of the MED in Health Professions Education Degree completed with a passing grade, or permission from the instructor.
