Learner Assessment in the Health Professions

Catalog description

Students will review assessment fundamentals and their theoretical underpinnings including trends in competency-based assessment and high-stakes assessment and be introduced to a survey of assessment methods used in health professions education and examine validity, reliability, feasibility, and educational considerations. The importance of student self-assessment will be addressed along with strategies to help students monitor their own learning and reflect on ways to improve performance. Each learner will be required to design an assessment approach for their Capstone Project in EDP 622 and EDP 623 .
