Problem Posing, Theorizing, and Research Methods

Catalog description

This course focuses on connecting problems of practice to theory and methodology. Students examine the role of theoretical and conceptual frameworks in shaping research questions and study designs, and explore multiple methodologies—including qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods approaches—with emphasis on qualitative, action, and community-based traditions. Students evaluate the rationale for different methodological choices and the ethical implications of engaging with communities through practitioner inquiry. Prerequisite(s): Graduate Standing.
