Leadership Ethics in Community Contexts

Catalog description

When working with/in diverse communities for shared purposes and goals, what are the ethical challenges leaders face? What tool, ideas, and resources can help them to better inquire, think, and grow as they strive to meet the challenges of leadership? In this applied ethics course, we learn moral theories and ethical leadership models in the application of theory to leadership practice, developing creative ways to address moral dilemmas of leadership work. Questions of responsible use of authority and power in light of pluralistic communities and structural inequality run across the curriculum and assignments. The class provides multiple forms of hands-on explorations of ethical issues, including the use of contract grading to build critical self-reflection and self-assessment skills. IC. PA-4A, SI-02.
