Catalog description

As the second course in the chemical process design sequence, this course challenges students to apply their prior knowledge to comprehensive, team-based design projects focused on creating chemical processes that meet specific market needs and realistic constraints. Students will conduct in-depth research on chemicals, production methods, and global supply chains. They will critically integrate economic viability, safety, environmental and societal impacts, and relevant regulatory and geographical factors into their design considerations, while also considering ethical implications throughout the design process. The course emphasizes the collaborative development of a formal design report and the effective communication of design proposals. Prerequisites: CPB 471 .
