Catalog description

First course of the engineering senior design sequence. This course introduces the students to the design process, understanding the needs of the customer, determining design specification, concept creation, intellectual property and prototyping. The course also introduces concepts related to working effectively in teams, project management and scheduling. Student will learn the roles played by disciplines other than engineering in the development of chemical, biological and biomedical products, such as the role of the physician, legal and regulatory bodies, marketing and manufacturing. Students will learn to work as design team to use practical design methods to build and test a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints. Prerequisite or Co-requisite: CPB 414/CPB 514 and CPB 415/CPB 515 and senior standing.
