Catalog description

Application of engineering principles to the design and understanding of systems that enhance human health and well-being. The course covers key aspects of native physiology for select systems that may include nervous, renal, respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine, and immune. Students employ mathematical and computational techniques to model processes from physiological systems that can be used to better understand native processes or changes from injury or disease. Computational and/or product design aspects will also be applied to the design of biomedical systems to treat disease conditions. Engineering topics include fluid flow, compartment models, membrane transport processes, and/or stochastic systems. Prerequisites: CPB 318 AND ( PHY 182 OR PHY 192).
