Catalog description

This course will apply information technology to databases to support decision making. It will address information technology techniques as they apply to information lifecycle issues in a variety of domains. This course will include hands-on use of current information technology for organizational needs analysis, data acquisition and storage through data contextualization, and information retrieval effective use. Participants will analyze new tools and techniques for suitability to specific information management and retrieval objectives. Topics include data storage and retrieval techniques, data transformation, tool analysis and evaluation, information presentation, data mining, and organizational information need analysis. Prerequisites: CIT 214 and STA 261 or STA 368 or ISA 205.
