Doctoral Professional Development Seminar

Catalog description

The seminar supports all doctoral students enrolled in either the PhD in Engineering or PhD in Computer Science degree programs through structured professional development, mentoring, and research and industry engagement. While the course number and structure remain constant, learning experiences, expectations and assessments are intentionally differentiated by year-in-program and follow a five-year thematic rotation to ensure continual growth without content duplication. The seminar emphasizes research professionalism, teaching preparation, entrepreneurship and innovation, grant writing, mentoring, leadership and resilience. Prerequisite: Graduate standing.
