Metropolitan State University of Denver · 3 credits · UGRD

Prerequisite(s): SWK 1010, SWK 1600, Written Communications General Studies with a C- or above In this course, you will explore how the frames of history, context, meaning, power, and possibility influence our past and current practice. As part of this exploration, you will learn about epistemology, ethics, values, and other philosophical concepts directly impacting how we think about and act in practice. A deep dive into social work ethics and values provides a necessary foundation for your current ethical student conduct and your future social work practice. Finally, you will develop a framework for how we think in social work, both critically and reflectively, with the intention of reducing bias and increasing possibility. Note: If a student has completed their Written Communication general studies through a different combination of courses, please contact the Department of Social Work for a registration override.
