Metropolitan State University of Denver · 4 credits · UGRD

This course covers the history of non-fiction films since the invention of the medium. We will discuss the historical, cinematic, cultural, and technological contexts in which they were made, as well as the questions they raise—including the line between fiction and non-fiction and the problematic nature of non-fiction representation on film. By the end of the course, students will have a thorough knowledge of the medium in general, the important movements and filmmakers, and the important films in the canon. (Prereq: ENG 2860)
