The study of laboratory animals as integral parts of biomedical research. Rats, mice and rabbits are studied in regard to husbandry, sex identification and reproduction, handling and restraint, drug administration, injection and blood collection methods, anesthesia, common diseases and necropsy. A major emphasis of the course is an overview of laws and regulations governing animal research and a thorough understanding of the proper care and use of research animals.
