Catalog description

An introduction to biostatistics and epidemiology with application to medical and biological research will be covered. Topics will include an overview and history of epidemiology, study designs, rates and proportions, contingency tables, measures of association, confounding and effect modification, infectious disease, epidemic surveillance, and evaluation of clinical tests. Practical application will consist of analysis of data collection and analysis and as well as reviews of current literature. Students will be trained in the use of SPSS.
