Catalog description

This course focuses on the episodic and acute care issues that present in primary care across the lifespan (infants/children, adolescents, women, adults, and older adults) a bio-psycho-social framework to examine the historical, cultural, biological, physiological, psychological, and social aspects of care of episodic and acute conditions across the lifespan. The course emphasizes gaining knowledge necessary to prevent, diagnose, and manage episodic and acute health problems. Topics pertaining to practice management, career development, and legal and ethical issues will be explored and applied to primary care. NURS 776S is a corequisite for NURS 776, both the lecture and clinical courses must be taken concurrently. If a student must withdraw from the lecture course, the student must also withdraw from the corequisite clinical course. Note: Failure in NURS 776 (grade less than B-) results in repeating NURS 776 and NURS 776S. (4 credits didactic; 2 credits clinical: 250 hours)
