Catalog description

This advanced methods course, is designed for master's candidates who are already teachers of record. This course examines research-based teaching methods and strategies for integrating English language arts and social studies in early childhood and childhood education. The course emphasizes techniques and theoretical frameworks for building robust interdisciplinary curricula that engage students while facilitating their acquisition of the skills and content-knowledge required to meet the Common Core standards in both English Language Arts and Social Studies. This course also prepares classroom teachers to help students understand and fulfill the duties of citizenship in a participatory democracy.
