Catalog description

This course will study the legal framework (National and New York State) within which public education operates. Areas considered are church-state relations, state agencies, local school boards, financing education, tort liability, teacher-personnel administration, the Taylor Law, tenure, desegregation, and the constitutional rights and freedoms of students. Eighteen hours of field experience required.
