Catalog description

This course addresses the impact of cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity on communication development, communication patterns, and communication disorders. It is an introduction to cultural and linguistic diversity (CLD) among individuals with communication disorders and differences. Special emphasis is placed on African American, Latino, Asian and Middle Eastern backgrounds. The class provides students with a framework for developing an understanding of the many issues related to the provision of clinical services to the multicultural population in the U.S.
