<b><font color="7A0018">Begins Fall 2025</b></font><br> This course provides students with a comprehensive study of fire prevention as the foundation of community risk reduction and firefighter safety. Students will explore the history and philosophy of fire prevention, model codes and standards, inspection practices, and the role of fire prevention in modern fire protection organizations. Topics include building and fire codes, fire protection systems, plan review, fire investigation, and public education programs. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between fire prevention and community safety, as well as the responsibilities of fire service professionals in reducing the risk of fire through proactive measures. Fire 32 is a required course in the Merced College Fire Technology Program and prepares students for careers in fire prevention, inspection, investigation, and fire protection systems management.
