<b><font color="7A0018">Begins Fall 2025</b></font><br> This course provides students with a comprehensive overview of the fire service, its history, traditions, and evolving role in modern society. Using Introduction to Fire Protection and Emergency Services, Seventh Edition as the primary text, students will explore the organization and function of fire departments at the local, state, and federal levels, as well as public and private fire protection systems. Topics include the chemistry and physics of fire, fire prevention, fire protection systems, emergency operations, incident command, firefighter safety, and career opportunities within the fire service. Emphasis is placed on understanding the interrelationship between fire prevention, suppression, investigation, and emergency services, preparing students for further study and future careers as fire service professionals.
