Catalog description
This course provides an overview of young adult literature and literacy practices relevant to the content area classroom. It discusses students' literacy practices and developmental stages in grades 8-12. Emphasis is on strategies for teaching vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing techniques, speaking and listening competency, overall critical thinking skills, and the use of young adult literature within specific content areas at the middle and secondary levels.
