Catalog description
Family Dynamics examines modern American families through a sociological lens. This course will cover topics such as how marriage and families are defined, theoretical analysis of family structures, viewing families as a social construct, selecting a partner, cohabitation, parenthood, family/work balance, divorce, remarriage, and blended families. The concepts of social class, race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality in relation to the institution of families will be discussed.
