Catalog description

Concepts of Psychiatric Nursing focuses on applying the core components of nursing to the care of patients with mental illness through the lifespan. Students utilize therapeutic communication techniques and incorporate holistic nursing care plans for patients in outpatient, inpatient and community settings. Note: Prior to the first day of class, students must submit the following to the Nursing Department: current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification (CPR), the student health record requirements including physical form, vaccination record, drug screening and background check. Students will be required to attend clinical, lab and simulations.  A detailed course schedule will be made available to students in Canvas.
