Catalog description

Civil Litigation and Discovery covers the theory and practical application of civil litigation from initial client contact through post-trial procedures. Students examine each stage of the litigation process, including preliminary investigation, pleadings, motions, discovery, trial, appeal, and alternative dispute resolution. Emphasis is placed on the ethical responsibilities of legal professionals, the use of technology in litigation and discovery, and the development of practical skills in document preparation, organization, and case management. NOTE: This course requires advanced reading, advanced writing and basic math.
