Catalog description

EPA Certification prepares students to successfully complete the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Section 608 certification exam. The course is designed to prepare students to obtain all four levels of certification (Core, Type 1, Type, II, and Type III) available from the EPA. This certification is required by all personnel that handle refrigerant used in residential and commercial, and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The course will also prepare students to take the 410A refrigerant handling exam, and the A2L flammable refrigerant handling exam. All exams are proctored at the Testing Center on the MCC campus. The EPA certification is awarded by the U.S. EPA and the 410A and A2L certifications are awarded by the ESCO Institute. This course provides fundamentals for HVAC technicians to build upon as they pursue their HVAC educational and career goals. (1.2-Articulated) NOTE: This course requires basic reading, basic writing, and basic math.
