Catalog description
Commercial Refrigeration Systems advances student knowledge concerning the principles, practices, use and operation of commercial refrigeration equipment. Students will study various types of commercial refrigeration systems including reach-in coolers and freezers, case coolers and freezers, walk-in coolers and freezers, and ice makers. This course reinforces leak detection, system evacuation, refrigerant recovery, and system charging. Students also gain experience with, piping techniques, wiring diagrams and schematic reading, servicing, and cleaning of commercial refrigeration systems, humidity control, the use of refrigerant manifold gauge sets, brazing and soldering, and diagnostic test equipment. This course provides fundamentals for HVAC technicians to build upon as they pursue their HVAC educational and career goals. (1.2-Articulated) Note: This course requires basic reading, basic writing, and basic math.
