INTRO TO REFRIGERATION

Catalog description
Introduction to Refrigeration introduces students to basic refrigeration theory and practice in Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC). The function and operational characteristics of the mechanical refrigeration system including, evaporators, compressors, refrigerant metering devices, refrigerants, and sustainable energy sources are covered. The use and operation of service manifold gauge sets, leak detection equipment, system evacuation and charging stations, test equipment, flaring, soldering, and brazing skills are practiced. This course provides fundamentals for HVAC technicians to build upon as they pursue their HVAC educational goals. (1.2-Articulated) NOTE: This course requires basic reading, basic writing, and basic math.
