Catalog description

Beginner French I takes an active approach to learning French. In addition to traditional course materials, students explore French culture through literature, cinema and music. All activities and assignments stress the four language skills of understanding, speaking, reading and writing. The course aims to build a solid vocabulary and grammatical foundation, and an understanding of basic French conversation. (1.1-Articulated) NOTE: Those students who are native speakers or who have advanced language skills are highly encouraged to take placement testing in the Testing Center. This will ensure placement at the correct course level. This course requires basic reading and intermediate writing.
