Catalog description

This course is required for all MSW, SAG students. This weekly seminar course is a university-based complement to the agency-based field course. The joint field practicum and seminar course enables students to integrate knowledge acquired across the social work curriculum within an agency setting. Students apply generalist practice knowledge, skills and values, along with course competencies in practice with vulnerable and diverse populations. Analysis of the field practicum experience in seminar class promotes knowledge acquisition and increases students' understanding of previously learned material. Students in this first course will be required to meet the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) 2022 EPAS Competencies 6, Engage with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities and 7, Assess Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities. Practicum Courses are to be taken consecutively. This is a 16-week course. Graded pass/no pass.
