Catalog description
This course is the first in a two-part natural science sequence for prospective elementary school teachers. This course examines the fundamental concepts of life science and its applications. Topics include the structure and functionality of the structures found in plants and animals, the relationships between living and nonliving components within the environment, example life cycle and reproductive patterns, evidence that supports the theory of evolution, and how to plan and conduct appropriate scientific investigations. An emphasis is placed on applying science concepts to current events in science and society.
