Catalog description
This course introduces students to the fundamental components of language. An emphasis is placed on major theories of language development and language acquisition as well as the processes involved in learning language. Students will examine the interaction between primary language and second language acquisition and strategies that support language development. The course also addresses the implications that language development and language differences have on the processes of learning to read and reading to learn.
