Catalog description

This course prepares teacher candidates to design and deliver inclusive, standards-aligned literacy instruction that promotes students’ meaning making, language development, and effective expression across content areas. Candidates learn to support diverse learners including English learners and students with literacy-related disabilities through asset-based pedagogy, translanguaging, and differentiated strategies. Emphasis is placed on using formative and diagnostic assessments to inform instruction, and on integrating educational technology to engage students and promote digital literacy.
