Catalog description
Grounded in the science of reading and evidence-based literacy research, this course focuses on development and progression of foundational literacy skills including print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, spelling, and early writing skills. Through structured literacy practices, candidates will examine effective strategies for supporting English learners and students with reading difficulties, including dyslexia. The course integrates the California Dyslexia Guidelines, the California Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and the California ELA/ELD Framework to ensure equitable, standards-aligned instruction and assessment.
