This course is an Introduction to microorganisms as biological entities. Topics include microscopy, cell structures and functions, metabolism, genetics, disease transmission, host response to microbial invasion, control of infectious disease, impact of microbes on the environment and applications of microorganisms to industrial and environmental problems. This course is only offered through the School of Extended Education.
