Catalog description

This course presents advanced concepts in psychopharmacology to support advanced nursing practice. A case-based approach is utilized to explore best practices and principles in psychopharmacology to treat mental illness and disorders across the lifespan. The course examines neuropharmacological mechanisms, pharmacodynamics, and drug interactions of commonly used psychotropic drugs. Client-centered care and concordance is emphasized to address safety, quality and cost to improve outcomes. Evidence-based practice serves as the framework for this course. Students will be provided with the most recent research and evidence in the areas studied.
