Nursing Care of Adults with Chronic Health Problems

Catalog description

Using the Chronic Care Model, this course addresses the nursing management of adults and older adults who experience symptoms of illnesses that are the leading causes of death and disability in the United States. In the coordination of care, students consider the increasing diversity of the population and the social determinants of health. Relevant principles of pathophysiology, pharmacological and non-pharmacologic interventions are integrated. Clinical experiences are in the non-acute care settings. Prerequisites: BIO 161, BIO 161L, BIO 162, BIO 162L, BIO 260, BIO 260L, CHM 125, CHM 125L, HPR 345, MA 132, PSY 110, and SOC 131 or SOC 121. A minimum grade of C is required in all prerequisite courses. Co-requisites: NU 231, NU 306.
