Catalog description

An examination of the major themes in United States history from the ratification of the Constitution through the events of the Mexican-American War. The course emphasizes changes in the social order, the entrenchment of racial differences and regional divides, the formation of the two-party system, and economic shifts with westward expansion and the expansion of the market economy . Prerequisite: HI 110 or HI 111. Liberal Arts Core Designation: History (HI), Depth in Humanities (DHUM).
