Catalog description

This course will provide an overview of reimbursement strategies in the United States for various health care settings. The course focuses on concepts relevant to private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid programs, and newer models of reimbursement discussed in the light of the Affordable Care Act, 2010. With an increased emphasis on population health, the course will provide the student an opportunity to learn about various cost-saving, efficiency-driven, and quality enhancing patient-centered strategies such as bundled payments or value-based purchasing for reimbursing care in newer delivery settings such as the Accountable Care Organizations and medical homes. Prerequisite or Co-Requisite: HCM 510.
