Catalog description

Students will learn about death penalty cases in the American legal system. The course will emphasize identification of the humanity within capital defendants and the presentation of mitigation evidence. Trial procedures, effective representation, mental health issues, cultural competence, victim concerns, and problems of vicarious trauma will be addressed.
