Catalog description
Taking direction from the central idea of data humanism, this course explores the relationship between data, storytelling with data, and visual storytelling. Students will use a variety of tools and techniques to hone their ability to tell accessible, impactful stories that matter using research, data, and visual components. Students will also examine and critique current data storytelling and data journalism examples to gain insight into their own craft. Course projects to include a final data journalism project and a professional portfolio.
