This course presents an overview of various professional and managerial topics relevant to the health care professional. Each offering of the course focuses on a particular health profession. Emphasis is on defining the profession, understanding its historical development and evolution, examining professional roles, tasks, responsibilities, and accountabilities in current practice, studying the interaction with other professionals, delineating the parameters of the professional in ethical decision-making, and recognizing and responding to challenges faced in contemporary practice and in planning for the future.
