Examines the history of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) from its founding in the 16th century through its global expansion, suppression, and restoration. Special attention is given to Jesuit spirituality, missionary strategies, and their influence on theology, education, politics, and culture. Students consider how the Jesuits shaped Catholic intellectual and social traditions while also navigating controversies related to colonialism, political involvement, and modernity.
